Refund and Cancellation Policy

Version 1.0 | August 2026

1. Purpose

This policy explains the cancellation and refund arrangements applicable to Shift Happens workshops, courses and online educational programmes.

Because our workshops have different financial commitments, the cancellation and refund arrangements may differ from one workshop to another.

2. Workshop-Specific Terms

The applicable cancellation and refund terms will be communicated for each workshop before enrolment.

The applicable terms may specify:

  • deposit amount;
  • initial payment;
  • instalment arrangements;
  • non-refundable amount;
  • cancellation deadlines;
  • transfer arrangements; and
  • refund percentages.

3. Enrolment and Payment

An enrolment becomes confirmed when the enrolment form has been submitted together with the required:

  • deposit/initial payment; or
  • full payment.

4. Cancellation by the Student

If you need to cancel your enrolment, please notify us in writing at:

info@kinesiology-shifthappens.co.za

Your refund, if applicable, will be determined according to the cancellation terms applicable to that particular workshop.

5. Deposits and Initial Payments

Where a workshop specifies a deposit or initial payment, the applicable workshop terms will state whether that amount is refundable or non-refundable and under what circumstances.

The amount may be higher for workshops involving international instructors because Shift Happens may have significant non-refundable commitments associated with those workshops.

6. Instalment Payments

Where a student has selected a two- or three-instalment payment arrangement:

  • cancellation does not automatically cancel outstanding obligations;
  • any refund will be calculated according to the applicable workshop cancellation terms;
  • unpaid amounts may remain due where the applicable terms provide for them; and
  • we will communicate with the student regarding the applicable calculation.

7. Repeat Students

The 50% repeat-student discount applies to the workshop fee for students repeating within five years.

It does not include a new manual.

A new manual will be charged separately.

8. Cancellation by Shift Happens

If Shift Happens cancels a workshop, we will communicate with affected students and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with the circumstances and applicable law.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • transfer to a rescheduled workshop;
  • credit;
  • refund; or
  • another appropriate arrangement.

9. Instructor Changes

Where reasonably necessary, Shift Happens may substitute an instructor.

Where a material change substantially affects the service purchased, we will communicate with affected students and consider an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law and the particular circumstances.

10. International Instructor Workshops

Workshops involving international instructors may have specific cancellation terms because of:

  • flights;
  • accommodation;
  • venue commitments;
  • instructor fees;
  • deposits;
  • travel arrangements; and
  • other non-refundable expenses.

These terms will be communicated before enrolment.

11. Online Courses

Refund arrangements for online courses may differ from in-person workshops.

The applicable terms will be displayed at the point of purchase.

Where access to digital course content has commenced with the customer’s consent, applicable electronic transaction rules and consumer-law provisions will be taken into account.

12. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Refund & Cancellation Policy is intended to exclude a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

South African electronic transactions are governed by ECTA, which includes specific provisions relating to electronic transactions and information that suppliers must make available to consumers. (Government of South Africa)
